“Well it was bound to happen sooner
or later.” That’s what my wife, Mendy told
me when I informed her I would be racing the festarossa next weekend.
The festarossa is my 1988 Ford Festiva, which is normally my daily
driver. But not this weekend, No this weekend, he was a pylon dodging
supercar. OK, maybe not a supercar, but I was looking forward to
my first trip around the cones in about 4 years.
I had planned on driving the mustang, but since I couldn't seem
to find the time to put the sway bars back on the car I had removed
in the name of elapsed time, that was quickly ruled out. At first
I was a little leary of bringing it to an autocross sponsered by
the Porsche Club of America, but in the end I'm glad I did.
The autocross was held in Jefferson City, TN at a manufacuring
facility. There were 40 registrants, and with the heat, they decided
to break the field down into 4 groups of 10 to keep the same people
from standing out in the heat picking up cones. |
